Bobcat Field Hockey Falls At Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock jumped out to a 6-0 cushion at halftime and added two more goals in the second stanza to post an 8-0 win over Frostburg State, Tuesday.
 
The Rock (1-1) outshot Frostburg 30-8 and put 22 of those attempts on cage.
 
FSU senior keeper Sierra Smizer got the start in goal and notched 11 saves in 30 minutes of action. It was her second-straight game with 10 or more saves and she has saved nearly 30 shots over the last two contests. First-year Madison Manalansan played the second half in cage and made three saves in her collegiate debut.
 
Junior Gabby Rachuba led the Bobcats (0-3) offensively with four shots, while junior Sam Coffey was second on the team with two shots and one on goal.
 
Three of Rachuba's shots came in the fourth quarter, while her final attempt got past keeper Taylor Page, but was stopped from going in the goal by defender Brenna McGovern-Lind.
 
Jessie Trube led the Rock with four goals and one assist. Maddie Murphy made the start in goal for the hosts and made three saves in 30 minutes of play.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Friday when it travels to St. Charles, Missouri to battle Lindenwood at 6:00 pm.
