ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team dropped a road game against Capital Athletic Conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) 13-5.
The result moves FSU to 8-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Seahawks move to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the CAC.
The Seahawks came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as they held a 5-0 advantage over Frostburg late in the first quarter. FSU got their first shot to go as junior Michael Sipes found some daylight to put the Bobcats on the board, 5-1.
The second quarter started with a goal from junior Paul Ruppert assisted from first-year Matthew Ward to make the St. Mary's lead 5-2 with 7:42 to go in the first half.
St. Mary's went on a 6-0 run to start the second half to balloon their lead to 12-2. Frostburg responded with three goals in the final stanza. The first goal came from the long stick of first-year Matt Sharkey, his second of the season. Ward put one in for his second point on the afternoon, and the final Bobcat goal was recorded by junior Jimmy Lucas, his 18th of the 2019 season.
Overall Frostburg was outshot by St. Mary's (Md.) 47-27, while junior Jack Marks recorded 17 saves.
