Bobcats Top Bearcats in Non-Conference Finale

LATROBE, Pa. – Eleven different players registered a point as the Frostburg State women's lacrosse team cruised to a 16-2 victory at Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening in the Bobcats' final non-conference tune-up of the season.
 
The victory propels Frostburg State to 3-8 on the season, while Saint Vincent fell to 0-5.
 
The Bobcats burst out of the gate with sophomores Stephanie King, Summer Cavey and Lindsay Kohlmann each tallying a goal in the first minute of action to hand FSU a 3-0 advantage.
 
The Bobcats added five more goals to open an 8-0 lead with 15:03 to play in the first half. First-year Bridget Weiss scored her first colligate goal and senior Morgan Cavey added a pair of goals to cap the Frostburg State run.
 
First-year Shelby Brunett scored Frostburg's final goal of the first half with 5:03 left in the period, handing FSU a 9-1 advantage at the break.
 
In the second half, first-year Chloee Johnson netted her first three career goals, and junior Molly Biggers added two. Sophomore Maggie Roszko and Weiss each added a goal to round out a 21-point day for the Bobcat offense.
 
Morgan Cavey and Johnson led the Bobcats with three points apiece. Six other Bobcats contributed two points, including first-year Kelly Claxton who dished out her first two career assists.
 
The Bobcats outshot the Bearcats 30-11 with a 28-5 edge in shots on goal. Frostburg secured 13 draw controls to seven for SVC. Frostburg held Saint Vincent to 8-of-21 on clearing attempts and 24 turnovers for the afternoon.
 
The Bobcats begin Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday at No. 4 Salisbury at 12:00 p.m.
