SALISBURY, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team fell in its Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opener at fourth-ranked Salisbury 22-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Sea Gulls (9-2, 1-0 CAC) scored nine unanswered goals in the contest's first 15 minutes before the Bobcats (3-8, 0-1) found the back of the net.
Senior Morgan Cavey and sophomore Summer Cavey scored back-to-back goals with 13:02 and 11:08 left in the first half to trim Salisbury's advantage to 9-2.
Following a three-goal spurt by the Sea Gulls, first-year Chloee Johnson scored for the second-consecutive game with 4:51 remaining in the half. Salisbury carried a 14-3 advantage into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Bobcats managed three shots but were unable to find the back of the net.
Morgan Cavey scored and grabbed a team-high five draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Sophomore Maggie Roszko added an assist on the Bobcats' first goal. Senior goalkeeper Abigail McClure notched nine saves on the day.
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday for their CAC home opener against No. 8 York (Pa.) at 5:00 p.m.
