FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team secured its first home win of the season as they defeated Washington & Jefferson 17-5 behind five goals from junior Molly Biggers and four from sophomore Stephanie King.

The win propels the Bobcats to 2-7 overall on the season while the Presidents fall to 2-6 in their 2019 campaign.

Frostburg State drew first blood after sophomore Lindsay Kohlmann knifed her way through the defense to make it 1-0, Bobcats with 26:07 left in the first half.  The offense took advantage after a free position opportunity as King drilled a shot from short distance making the score 2-0 FSU.  W&J responded with one of their own off the attack from junior Rae LaRochelle to cut the Bobcat lead in half.

With 21:45 left in the first half, King fired another shot that slipped by the Presidents' goalie to bring the Bobcat lead back to two. King again found the back of the net off of another free position opportunity extending the FSU lead, 4-1.

After a mishandle by the W&J goalkeeper, sophomore Maggie Roszko took advantage and made a shot that hit the top corner of the net, making the game 5-1 Frostburg.  Roszko again found the back of the net as she took advantage of a nice pass from King, as the lead ballooned to 6-1 Bobcats with 6:20 to go in the first half.

FSU's offense kept the foot on the gas pedal, as they carried a 9-3 lead into halftime after goals from Biggers, King and senior Morgan Cavey.Â

The second half started much like the first, as Biggers scored in the first 30-seconds of the half for her second goal of the game. Biggers then went coast to coast and planted one in the net to make the score 11-3 Bobcats.

Back-to-back goals by FSU, one from Kohlmann and the other from Cavey, bumped the lead to 10 for Frostburg 13-3 with 26:04 left.  The Presidents got one back with a goal from sophomore Sofiya Bobrovnikova on a free position opportunity.

Biggers grabbed two more goals to extend the lead to 11 for FSU, 15-4. Cavey notched her third goal off of an attack in front of the Presidents' goalie extending the lead to 12. First-year attacker Shelby Brunett scored on a free position shot, 17-5 FSU.

Senior goalkeeper Abigail McClure earned the win, stopping 10 shots.
