Men Drop Midweek CAC Contest

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Frostburg men's basketball team dropped a midweek CAC game at Penn State Harrisburg, 86-67, Wednesday night.
 
Senior Edwin Cole gave FSU the early 2-0 lead with a jumper just 22 seconds into action. Three minutes later, junior Terry Kenner connected on a three-pointer for another two-point cushion, 7-5.
 
Harrisburg slowly pushed its advantage to eight, 31-21 at 7:37 on a Kahlil Williams basket.
 
Frostburg answered with a 10-2 spurt over the next four minutes to knot the game at 23-23 on a pair of first-year Torrin Stephens free throws at 3:51. Junior Daniel Alexander tied the game with a layup at 3:13 and classmate Lawrence Pettis hit a layup at 2:33 that tied the game again.
 
Harrisburg closed out the first half with a 34-30 edge and quickly pushed its lead to 12 inside the first three minutes of the second half.
 
Frostburg made one final attempt at a rally as it cut the deficit to seven, 48-41 at 14:59 when Cole hit a three-pointer.
 
The Lions took control with a 12-2 spurt for a 60-43 advantage that later ballooned to 68-47 with 10 minutes to play in the second half.
 
The Bobcats were able to cut their deficit to 12 twice late in the second half, but were outscored 52-37 in the second to set the final at 86-67.
 
Frostburg was led in scoring by Alexander who poured in 18 points and snared 10 rebounds. Kenner finished with 12.
 
The Lions, who shot 47.5 percent from the field (29-of-61) had four players in double figures. Chris Bring led the hosts with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Williams added 17.
 
FSU returns to action on Saturday at Christopher Newport at 4:00 pm
