DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Brooke Anthony scored twice to carry the Mercy College Mavericks to a 2-0 shutout of Frostburg State, Sunday.
Both goals came in the fourth quarter for the hosts as they improve to 4-12, while the visiting Bobcats fall to 2-16.
Anthony's first goal came at 49:11 and she sealed the victory when her second tally came with just 1:28 left in regulation.
Mercy outshot Frostburg 13-7 and held a 13-10 edge in penalty corners. Bobcat senior keeper Sierra Smizer notched six saves, while first-year Katie Mitchell registered her first career defensive save as she stopped a shot in the 47
th minute.
Junior Gabby Rachuba led the offensive attack with five shots, including three on goal. Junior Sam Coffey finished with two shots and one on goal.
FSU returns to the field next weekend at the Independents Championship Tournament at Bellarmine.
