YORK, Pa. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team suffered its third conference loss of the season, as the Bobcats fell to York (Pa.), 87-75.
Overall, the Bobcats fall to 8-9, 4-3 in the CAC, while the Spartans improve to 12-6, 5-2 in the conference.
With the score 5-4 in favor of the home team early in the first half, the Spartans used a 13-0 run to take a commanding 18-4 lead over the Bobcats. The Spartans used the early run to propel themselves to a 48-27 halftime lead.
Bobcat junior Terry Kenner led the team with 12 points off the bench at the half, while senior Edwin Cole collected six points and five rebounds for FSU. York was led by junior Jared Wagner, who had 10 points, four rebounds and five assists at the break. Junior forward Zach Novick came off the bench to score eight points, while hauling in seven rebounds for the Spartans.
The Bobcats tried to claw back, as they went on a 27-9 run in the game's final minutes, but York's lead was to large, as they went on to win, 87-75. Cole was the leader of the Bobcats, as he collected 23 points and 11 rebounds on his way to his ninth double-double of the season. Kenner scored 19 points, shooting 7-of-16 from the field and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The Spartans had four players shoot for double-digit points, with senior guard Jason Bady leading the way with 15 along with eight rebounds. Overall, York outshot Frostburg, 52.4%-42.3%.
The Bobcats will look bounce back on Saturday, January 26 as they continue their road trip at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
