Two Three-Point Records Fall In Win Over UMW

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Junior Terry Kenner exploded for 32 points and set the Frostburg single-game three-point record with eight as the Bobcats dropped Mary Washington 90-70, Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's win is the second this season for the Bobcats (9-9, 5-3 CAC) over the Eagles (14-5, 6-2 CAC) as both of the host's league losses have come against FSU.

Mary Washington entered Saturday's matchup ranked second in the CAC with 179 three-pointers made, while the Bobcats were last in the CAC with just 98. However, it was FSU that shined from beyond the arc as it tied a school record with 15 three-pointers. The Bobcats also set the single-game three-point percentage record at 62.5% after making 15-of-24 attempts.

The Bobcats controlled the game for much of the afternoon as they trailed just once and quickly led by 11 within the first six minutes of the contest. Junior Demetrich Williams extended Frostburg's lead to 20, 27-7, with 9:09 showing in the first on a layup

Kenner, who opened the game with a three-pointer, closed the half the same way with another three for a 44-28 halftime lead.

In the second half, Kenner tied FSU's record with his seventh three-pointer at 13:49 and he captured the mark moments later with his eighth and final triple of the ballgame at 12:46 for a 60-41 Bobcat advantage.

Williams hit a layup at 9:32 for Frostburg's largest lead of the game at 22 points, 71-49. Frostburg tied the school mark for three-pointers when junior Lawrence Pettis hit a triple at 6:54 for the visitors' 15th of the game.

Kenner's 32 points are a season-best and marks the third-straight game in which he has scored in double figures. Pettis finished with 19 points to go along with five three-pointers and six assists. Junior Daniel Alexander totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds.

As a team, Frostburg shot 55 percent from the floor (33-of-60) through 40 minutes of basketball and limited Mary Washington to just 7-of-37 three-pointers (18.9%). The Eagles made just 25 baskets on the afternoon, including nine in the first half. Johnny Cronin led the hosts with 14 points.

The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday when they travel to NCAA Division II Mansfield at 7:00 pm. FSU will host Southern Virginia at 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
