Gladden Scores Twice In Loss At Roanoke

SALEM, Va. – Junior Logan Gladden knocked in her first two goals of the season, but the Bobcats fell at Roanoke 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Maroons took an early lead just over four minutes into the contest with Emilee Wooten finishing a rebound off her own shot.
 
Over the next twenty minutes both teams earned two penalty corners, but neither was able to break through until the 27th minute when sophomore Sam Coffey found Gladden for her first goal of the day.
 
Shortly thereafter, the Maroons added a second goal to re-take the lead in the 29th minute. Roanoke extended its lead with a pair of goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to lead 4-1.
 
Following a penalty corner, the Bobcats had two attempts on cage saved before Gladden put her second goal home in the 48th minute to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Bobcats mustered one shot over the final twenty minutes of regulation.
 
Junior goalkeeper Sierra Smizer made 11 saves on the day, posting her second double-digit save effort of the season. First-year forward Taylor Hackett tied Gladden for the team lead in shots with two.
 
Roanoke outshot Frostburg 18-7 and held a 15-6 edge in shots on goal. The Maroons registered eight penalty corners to the Bobcats' five.
 
Frostburg falls to 0-7 on the season while Roanoke rises to 3-0.
 
Frostburg's tour of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference continues tomorrow at Ferrum at 1 p.m.
