WESTMINSTER, Md. – Seniors Adam Gross and Keegan Colegrove each scored two goals and handed out one assist as Frostburg suffered a 6-5 loss at McDaniel, Wednesday.
McDaniel (3-2) scored with 20 seconds left in the second quarter for a 4-3 cushion at halftime and it scored with 21 seconds left in the third quarter to set the final at 6-5.
The Bobcats (2-3) had plenty of chances in the fourth quarter as they attempted five shots and forced the Green Terror to turn the ball over five times.
McDaniel scored the game's first two goals in the first quarter and Gross finally put Frostburg on the board with a goal off an assist from sophomore Justin Carroll with 10:38 showing in the second quarter.
Jackson Reilly of McDaniel scored less than a minute later for a 3-1 edge, but Frostburg found the goal twice to event things at 3-3.
Gross found sophomore Paul Ruppert for a man-up goal at 7:32 and Carroll connected with Colegrove for another score with 49 seconds left in the half.
McDaniel carried a 4-3 advantage into the locker room with its goal with 20 seconds showing.
Colegrove opened the second-quarter scoring with his second goal of the game at 14:06 off a feed from sophomore Jimmy Lucas.
Bryce Brookhart pushed the Green Terror back to a one-goal lead when he scored at 13:10.
The Bobcats' final goal of the ballgame came at 12:22 when Colegrove found Gross that tied things for the final time at 5-5.
Jared Payne scored what would be the game-winner for the hosts with 21 seconds left in the third quarter.
McDaniel outshot Frostburg 28-19, but Frostburg won 8-of-15 faceoffs. Sophomore keeper Jack Marks notched six saves, while first-year Matt Pagliaro won five faceoffs.
Payne led the way for the hosts with two goals and one assist and their keeper Jacob Katzen made six saves.
Frostburg hosts No. 6 ranked Cabrini this Saturday at 12:00 pm.
