Bobcat Men Drop Brockport

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg collected its third win at Bobcat Stadium this season with a 7-3 victory over Brockport, Saturday.
 
The Bobcats evened their record at 4-4 on the season after leading the Golden Eagles (2-4) from start to finish.
 
Frostburg opened with three goals in the first quarter and later used a four-goal run over the second, third and fourth quarters for the win. FSU finished the afternoon with three man-up goals and was 18-of-22 on clears.
 
First-year Jason Clinton scored three goals, while sophomore Paul Ruppert scored once and handed out two assists.
 
Senior Adam Gross opened the scoring on the afternoon with the first goal just 1:17 into action. Clinton scored a minute later and Gross later found Ruppert for a 3-0 cushion at 6:13.
 
Patrick Sheridan answered for Brockport early in the second quarter, but Frostburg scored four straight.
 
Sophomore Jimmy Lucas gave Frostburg a 4-1 halftime lead with a goal at 3:32 in the second.
 
Clinton opened the second half with two goals in the third off assists from Ruppert, while Ruppert opened the fourth with a goal off a feed from Gross.
 
The Golden Eagles closed the scoring with two goals in the fourth.
 
Sophomore Jack Marks notched 11 saves for the win and led both squads with nine ground balls. He has four double-digit save performances this season.
 
Sheridan led Brockport with two goals, while starting keeper Dallas Meyers stepped in front of 11 shots.
 
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mary Washington to open CAC play at 4:00 pm.
