Frostburg Rallies Past Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Frostburg scored four-straight goals over the third and fourth quarters as it rallied past Messiah for a 14-10 win, Wednesday.
 
Senior Keegan Colegrove scored two goals and passed out an assist, while classmate Adam Gross scored once and handed out two assists for Frostburg (3-4) during the crucial stretch late in the third and early in the fourth.
 
Gross finished the evening with three goals and three assists and Colegrove scored three times with one assist.
 
Frostburg was outshot 27-16 in the first half as the Falcons built a narrow 7-6 halftime cushion.
 
Bobcat sophomore Justin Carroll opened the third quarter with an unassisted goal that evened the game at 7-7 just over three minutes into the second half.
 
Messiah (2-4) scored back-to-back goals for a 9-7 advantage late in the third until Gross found Colegrove for a man-up goal with 1:46 left in the third that started Frostburg's 4-0 scoring spurt.
 
Colegrove scored the final goal of the run with 10:58 showing in the fourth off a pass from first-year Jason Clinton.
 
Messiah scored its final goal with 6:54 left in regulation. Frostburg put the exclamation point on the evening with the final three goals, including two from Carroll at 5:29 and again at 4:00.
 
Gross, Colegrove, Clinton (2 g, 1a) and sophomore Jimmy Lucas (3g) did most of the damage up front for the Bobcats as they won 16-of-28 faceoffs.
 
The Bobcats also outscored the hosts 6-1 in the fourth quarter behind an 11-4 advantage in shots.
 
Lucas scored two goals in the first quarter to help Frostburg to a 3-2 late in the opening frame.
 
First-year Matt Pagliaro won 15 of Frostburg's faceoffs, while sophomore Jack Marks posted eight saves.
 
Hunter Bellows scored four times to lead the Falcons and keeper Evan Stocker notched nine saves.
 
The Bobcats host Brockport this Saturday at 3:00 pm.
