Women’s Basketball Drops CAC Matchup to Marymount

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team dropped a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) matchup to Marymount (Va.) 62-32 at Bobcat Arena Wednesday night.

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in league play, while Marymount improves to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the CAC.

Frostburg State outrebounded Marymount 31-27 on the night. Marymount forced 30 Bobcat turnovers, while Frostburg was only able to force 16 by the Saints. Marymount generated 31 points off turnovers, whereas FSU only scored seven.

The Bobcats shot 34.2 percent from the floor while Marymount shot 47.4 percent from the field.

Frostburg State was led by sophomore Amanda Emory who flirted with a double-double posting 10 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Junior Megan Kelly finished the night scoring seven points, handing out two assists and tallying one steal.

In the first quarter, at 5:23 Emory hit a layup to cut Marymount's lead to 8-4, but the Bobcats found themselves in a hole early trailing 19-4 at the end of the first quarter.

At 3:44 in the second quarter senior Adjowa Pinkrah netted a mid-range jumper to cut the Saints lead to nine (26-17).  Marymount pushed their lead to 13 (32-19) at the half after a Gabriella Haddad free throw with 29 seconds left in the half.

In the second half Frostburg State was only able to muster 13 points with Emory netting six of the 13. The Bobcats only shot 22.2 percent from the field in the second half on 4-18 shooting from the field.

Marymount was led by Regan Lohr who poured in a game-high 23 points along with five steals. Nicole Viscuso scored 19 points, grabbed six boards and tallied three steals on the night.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday as they host CAC foe Salisbury, tip-off set for 1:00 p.m.
