FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg field hockey team collected its first win on Sunday on the final day of the FSU Tournament as junior Molly Pickard poked home a shot in the first half for a narrow 1-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan.

The win improves the Bobcats to 1-3 on the season, while Ohio Wesleyan falls to 2-2.
Pickard and senior Ivy Meissner found themselves directly in front of OWU's keeper Paige Ross in the 26
th minute. Meissner attempted a shot that was partially deflected by Ross and Pickard ran onto the loose ball and poked it in the cage for the game's only score.
Frostburg outshot the Battling Bishops 13-10 and the hosts had several chances to add to its lead.
Bobcat sophomore Logan Gladden tipped a shot past Ross and towards the net with less than two minutes to go, but Maggie Greer hustled back on defense to knock the shot wide of the net for a defensive save.
Freshman Gabby Rachuba had a pair of breakaway chances, one in each half. In the 29
th minute, Rachuba dribbled on net from the ride side and found herself along with Ross, who kicked away the ball to keep the score at 1-0 at intermission.
Inside the final 10 minutes of regulation, Rachuba had another breakaway, but she was upended by Ross in front of the net and the ball was awarded to Ohio Wesleyan.
Rachuba also had a pair of shots at 11:14 and 13:00 turned away by Ross.
On defense, senior Nicole Leighty and junior Cara Morrell did their part to ensure the 1-0 win.
Leighty finished with five saves, including three in the second half as OWU was trying to even the score at 1-1. Two of her saves came in the final 15 minutes. She saved a Julia Melio shot with just over 14 minutes remaining and she turned away another attempt with less than four minutes to go off the stick of Gabi Coty.
Meanwhile, Morrell registered two defensive saves. She knocked away Nikki Olguin's shot at 1:09 and then cleared away a shot from Alexis Roberts at 45:07.
Frostburg continues its homestand on Wednesday when it hosts Lynchburg at 6:00 pm.
