FROSTBURG, Md. - Despite an early goal from junior Holly Van Wie, Frostburg State could not withstand the offense of Lychnburg as the Bobcats dropped the game 4-1 on Wednesday night. Lynchburg sits just outside the top 20 as they are receiving votes in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Top-20 Poll.

Frostburg's lone goal came from an impressive play, freshman Gabby Rachuba found Holly Van Wie with a pass that went through a defender's legs and Van Wie put it past the keeper to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bobcats (1-4) were only able to generate one shot in the first half and five for the game. While the Hornets managed to have 16 shots.

At the 30:16 mark Lynchburg's (5-0) Jackie Lerro had a 40 yard breakaway down the middle of the field and slotted the shot past a diving senior keeper Nichole Leighty.

Leighty finished the night with six saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Smizer came into the contest at 50:11 and finished the night with one save.

In the second half, the Bobcats could not keep up with the offense of Lynchburg as they scored three goals in the second half.

Freshman Sam Coffey had an opportunity to score at 52:43 but was blocked by the Hornet's Laurel Nicks and the rebound attempt at 52:49 was saved again by Nicks.

Lynchburg had a total of 16 penalty corners compared to Frostburg's two.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday as the host Hendrix at 11:00 a.m.
