FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team closed out its regular-season on Saturday and is set to face Mary Washington in the upcoming CAC Tournament first round, Tuesday.
The Bobcats (6-10, 3-5 CAC) have earned the sixth seed in the '17 tournament and will travel to third-seeded and 14
th ranked Mary Washington tomorrow afternoon for a 4:00 pm showdown in Fredericksburg, Va.
The appearance in the CAC Tournament is the second in three seasons for the Bobcats and the first under second-year head coach Hayley Engster. Frostburg and Mary Washington first faced one another in the tournament in 2011, Frostburg's first season in the CAC.
During the regular season, the 14
th-ranked Eagles defeated the Bobcats 19-7 last Wednesday in Fredericksburg.
The second first-round matchup features fifth seed Christopher Newport (10-7, 4-4 CAC) at fourth seed St. Mary's (Md.)(9-8, 5-3) on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
The winner of the FSU/UMW matchup will advance to face 13
th ranked and second-seeded Salisbury (11-5, 7-1 CAC) on Saturday, April 22. Meanwhile, the winner of CNU/SMCM will travel to top seed and fifth ranked York (Pa.)(13-2, 8-0 CAC) on Saturday as well.
The winner of the '17 CAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
