Bobcats Lose To Clarkson In Florida

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Senior Molly Hart and freshman Nikki Hallikas each scored twice and sophomore Morgan Cavey finished with three points as Frostburg suffered a 19-6 setback to Clarkson, Monday afternoon.
 
The game was part of the 2017 Spring Fling program in Florida that welcomes some of the nation's premiere lacrosse programs.

Hart and Hallikas scored a goal in each half and Cavey provided the first goal for the Bobcats (4-5). Clarkson opened the contest with two quick scores before Cavey was fouled and scored on the free position attempt at 24:53 that pulled Frostburg to within 2-1.
 
Over a two-minute stretch around the midway point of the first half, the Golden Knights (4-1) scored three-straight goals to increase their lead to 5-1 with 14:16 left in the first.
 
The Bobcats once again closed the gap with back-to-back goals. Hallikas won the draw control at 14:16 and scored an unassisted goal 15 seconds later that pulled Frostburg to within 5-2.
 
Following another Hallikas draw control, Frostburg further narrowed its gap when Molly Hart scored an unassisted goal at 13:38.
 
Kate Dillon scored two goals at 9:42 and 9:00 for Clarkson before Frostburg scored its final goal of the opening half. Senior keeper Dylan Teitelbaum saved a free position at one end of the field and after the successful clear, Cavey found senior Logan Brady for a goal with 7:04 to play for a score of 7-4.
 
Clarkson answered with a run of 11-consecutive goals that carried for the rest of the first half and the first 18 minutes of the second as it led 18-4.
 
Hallikas scored her second of the afternoon with 5:25 to play off an assist from Cavey that ended the run and made the score 18-5.
 
Following a goal from Clarkson with 2:50 showing, Molly Hart connected on a free-position goal with 1:13 to play that brought the scoring to a close.
 
Hallikas finished with a game-high six draw controls, Cavey totaled one goal and two assists, while senior Haley Hines caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Teitelbaum finished with three saves in the first half before freshman Emalie Mayo played the second half and registered a career-best nine saves.
 
Jaid Baytos led Clarkson offensively with four goals and three assists.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when its hosts Marymount (Va.) at 1:00 pm.
