Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Season Opener

FROSTBURG, Md - Senior Logan Brady scored six of Frostburg's goals as the Bobcats dominated a 21-4 win over Goucher in non-conference play.

Freshmen Nikki Hallikas, Molly Biggers, and senior Megan Hart all accounted for two goals each.  A total of 10 FSU players all registered at least one point.

Following right behind Brady was sophomore Morgan Cavey registering four goals to help the Bobcats to their first win.

Biggers scored the game's first goal less than five minutes into action followed by three more unanswered goals giving the Bobcats a 4-0 lead.

Goucher answered with two back-to-back goals by Alyssa Long and Allie Clay.  The goals were assisted by Clair Lippay and Lauren Pirrung. 

Biggers started the 4-2 run with the first goal.    After Goucher answered back with two goals, Brady notched three goals shortly after.  Senior Courney Ridenour, Cavey, Biggers, and Hart all tallied for goals before halftime giving the Bobcats a 12-2 lead at the half.

Brady opened the second half with a goal at 28:50 making that her fourth goal of the game.  Goucher immediately came back to score with a goal by Rachel Grosso, assisted by Gabrielle Umstead.

The Bobcats continued with a seven goal run as their lead inflated to 20-3 at 11:07. 

Goucher found the back of the net at 9:27 of the second half with an unassisted goal by Alyssa Long.

For the final time at 2:11 left in play Haley Hines scored with an assist from junior Tara Whitney making the final score 21-4.

Frostburg connected on over half of their shots by scoring 21 goals on 36 attempts.  The Bobcats also picked up 23 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers.

Senior goalkeeper Dylan Tietelbaum and sophomore Abigail McClure each played a half for the win.  Tietelbaum registed four saves.

The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday, February 22 when they visit Lynchburg at 4:30 pm.
