Bullets Best Bobcats On Slick Night

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State women's soccer team fell in a close 2-0 game to Gettysburg at Bobcat Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Bobcats (4-6, 1-0) were able to put six shots on goal against Gettysburg (6-2, 2-0) and all six of which the Bullets' keeper Kiera Loftus was able to keep out of the net. In total, FSU outshot Gettysburg in shots on goal by a total of 6-5.

Gettysburg knocked home its first goal of the game in the 15th minute when a shot from distance from Maddie Heaney rebounded off of the keeper and fell to the feet of Samantha Esposito who knocked it home from five yards out.

The Bobcats came back with a solid run of possession over the next 25 minutes with Brooke Shehade picking up three shots on goal and Danielle Ferris having one saved by Loftus as well.

The Bullets would strike again against the run of play in the 43rd minute when Alexa Bushey brought down a clearance attempt by the Bobcats and placed it over top of the outstretched arm of Karen Belteton from 35 yards out to make it a 2-0 lead just before the halftime break.

The Bobcats had a chance to pull one back in the 45th minute when a quick corner was taken by Shehade and was flicked on by Katie Broadhurst but just flashed across the face of goal.

Rhianna Lapen would come in at goalkeeper for the Bobcats in the second half and face only one shot on her goal which she saved off the foot of Isabel Klatt in the 81st minute.
