Bobcats Take Down Rowan 3-1

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Frostburg collected its second win this week with a 3-1 victory over Rowan, Friday night.
 
Three different players for the Bobcats (7-8) registered 10 or more kills, while four players finished with 10 or more digs in the win.
 
Frostburg (7-8) won the first set, 25-22, behind a .214 hitting percentage. The Profs (3-10) answered with a 25-21 win in the second set, before FSU closed out the evening with 25-19 and 25-21 wins in games three and four.
 
Junior Chelsea Parrinello led the way at the net with 13 kills and four total blocks. Juniors Zoe Harris and Karli Grimes finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
 
Parrinelllo kick started a run for the Bobcats in the opening set as she registered a kill and then blocked a attack that helped lead to a Rowan timeout. Parrinello and Harris each had kills later in the set and junior Lindsey Scepura had a service ace that led to RU's second timeout as the Bobcats' led 19-15.
 
Frostburg called its own timeout late in the game, but another Parrinello kill and an attack error on the Profs capped the 25-22 set one victory.
 
FSU led several times in the second set, including a 21-20 lead late behind a Harris kill. The Profs tallied the next five points to close out the win.
 
The third game featured the largest gap of the evening as Frostburg won by six. The Bobcats jumped out to a 6-1 lead early in the match, but Rowan rebounded to even the score at 17 all. Freshman Kathryn Lough posted two service aces down the stretch and Grimes added three kills to help Frostburg to the win.
 
In the fourth set, a kill from Parrinello gave Frostburg a 10-9 lead and several Rowan errors later and the Bobcats led 16-11. The Profs gave it one final push as they tied the contest at 21-21, but a kill from junior Jessica Bugtong and a service ace from freshman Cori Smothers earned the victory.
 
For the second-straight match, Scepura registered a season-high in digs. Against Rowan, see finished with 27 digs and five assists. Smothers added 17 digs, while Lough had 15. Junior Madelyn Torres handed out 30 assists and contributed 12 digs.
 
FSU returns to action tomorrow when it takes on Neumann at 11:00 am and Lebanon Valley at 1:00 pm.
