Frostburg Rolls To 8-0

BALTIMORE, Md. – The 16th-ranked Frostburg men's lacrosse team found the net in all four quarters and became the first team in Division III to eight wins with an 11-3 victory over Sewanee, Monday evening at Johns Hopkins' historic Homewood Field.

The Bobcats improved to 8-0 this spring behind strong individual efforts from senior Spenser Love (two goals, three assists) and junior Chase Cullison (4 goals).

Frostburg jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second quarter and survived an early flurry of action from Sewanee's (3-3) attack.

Cullison scored two of FSU's first four goals, while Love found the net once and had two assists as the Bobcats opened a 4-0 cushion with 12:58 to play in the second quarter.

Pat DiMento scored the first goal for the Tigers at 8:36, but Frostburg answered with a run of six-straight goals that ended with just under six minutes to go in regulation. Love capped the scoring for Frostburg with a goal with 3:36 to play in the fourth.

Cullison scored the first goal in each half and scored four goals for the second time in three games, while Love's two goals and three assists equals a season-high five points.

The Bobcats were nearly perfect on clears (17-of-18) and dominated the face-offs by winning 15-of-18. Senior Eric Geiser won 11-of-18, while junior Kyle Horak won 4-of-6. Sophomore Nick Pontorno added two goals and one assist, while sophomore Adam Gross scored once and had two assists.

In goal, senior Tom Kraemer needed just eight saves for his eighth win.

DiMento, Robbie Berndt and Hayden Hunt each scored once for the Tigers in the loss.

Earlier this afternoon, the Bobcats moved up in both national polls as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) has FSU ranked 16th, while the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine poll places the Bobcats at 15th. It's the highest national ranking in the USILA poll for the Bobcats in program history.

FSU returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Wesley at 7:00 pm.
