ARLINGTON, Va. – Five different players scored a goal for Frostburg as it opened Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday with a 13-5 defeat at Marymount.
Juniors Taylor Mone, Alyssa Barlow, Molly Hart and Emani Byrd, along with freshman Morgan Cavey, each found the net for the Bobcats (1-3, 0-1) in the loss. Barlow and Hart also added an assist.
Junior netminder Dylan Teitelbaum added 11 saves, while Barlow led with four ground balls and Molly Hart caused three turnovers. It's the third game this season Teitelbaum has registered 10 or more saves.
Frostburg kept things close in the early going matching Marymount's (4-2, 1-0) start.
The Saints opened with the game's first goal just 1:31 into play, but Molly Hart found Cavey at 25:54 to knot things at 1-1. Three minutes later, Byrd connected on another Frostburg goal that again tied the game, this time at two goals apiece.
Marymount scored back-to-back goals for a 4-2 advantage, but Barlow pulled the Bobcats to 4-3 with her first tally of the season at 12:47.
Marymount put the game out of reach by scoring the contest's next seven goals. The run started with the final four goals of the first stanza and carried into the second half with another three goals.
Barlow connected with Mone for a Frostburg goal that ended the Marymount run and brought the Bobcats to within 11-4. Molly Hart scored Frostburg's final goal with 13:17 to play that pulled the Bobcats to 11-5.
Marymount closed out the game with two more goals for the 13-5 final. Bridgette Stacom registered four goals and one assist for MU, while Abby Wescott had three goals and one assist.
FSU returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Shenandoah at 5:00 pm.
