Megan Hart Posts Five Points In Women’s Lax Loss At McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Junior attack Megan Hart assisted on four goals and scored one, but it wasn't enough as the Frostburg State women's lacrosse team fell 19-8 at McDaniel, Thursday afternoon.

The tandem of Hart and junior midfielder Emani Byrd (3 goals) were responsible for half of the Bobcats' offense, while junior goalkeeper Dylan Teitelbaum finished with 11 saves in the cage. The loss drops FSU to 1-2 on the season.

It was a game of runs as McDaniel's Maggie Quinn got on the board just 13 seconds into the game. Thirty-seven seconds later, however, Hart found Byrd to knot the game at one.

The Green Terror (3-2) scored the next five goals, including three from Sam Barbeito, before Hart and junior midfielder Molly Hart had back-to-back tallies to bring the game back within three, 6-3.

McDaniel had the next two from Quinn and Barbeito, but Megan Hart found junior attack Taylor Mone with 11:37 left before the half.

Barbeito then found Quinn for McDaniel's ninth goal, but Molly Hart answered back with an unassisted tally with 7:06 showing to keep the Bobcats in the game, 9-5.

McDaniel had four more goals before the break to lead 13-5 at halftime.

Barbeito and Byrd traded the next four goals, but the Green Terror added another four-goal run to lead 19-7.

Freshman attack Morgan Cavey found the back of the net with help from Megan Hart with 2:52 left in regulation to round out scoring.

Cavey picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers while junior defender Alyssa Barlow won three draws.

Barbeito led the Green Terror with seven goals and an assist while Quinn finished with four goals and two assists. Keepers Katelin Johnson (4 saves) and Nikki Francis (1 save) shared time between the pipes.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, March 12 as they travel to Marymount (Va.) to open up Capital Athletic Conference play. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
