FROSTBURG, Md. – Sophomore Tyler Michael tied a career-high with 27 points and Frostburg State finished with three starters in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats dropped an 80-71 decision to Penn State Harrisburg, Wednesday.
Michael finished 11-of-17 from the field with three three-pointers, along with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sixteen of those points came in the second half when Frostburg was trying to make a comeback.
Senior Nick Smoot was second on the roster with 17 points, including 12 in the second frame. He finished with three three-pointers and four assists. Senior Shawn Henson added 12 points, three assists and two steals.
Frostburg (6-14, 4-9) used a second half run over the middle part of the stanza that cut a 17-point Penn State Harrisburg lead, 57-40, to just six, 60-54, with 5:52 to play. Smoot started the run with a pair of three-pointers sandwiched around a layup and Michael capped it with a layup.
PSH (11-9, 6-7) quickly rebounded by extending its lead back to 15, 72-58 with 3:06 to play in regulation.
FSU cut the deficit to nine points three more times inside the closing minutes, but couldn't get any closer.
Frostburg knocked down 7-of-19 three-pointers on the evening and shot 42.4 perfect from the floor, however, the Lions were 18-of-30 from the foul line and outrebounded FSU 45-42.
Jazmon Harris led Penn State Harrisburg with 18 points, while Anthony Morgan had 16 and Jourdon Wilson added 14.
FSU returns to the floor on Saturday when it hosts St. Mary's at 3:00 pm.
