HARRISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Carvell Akuffo scored two second half goals and lifted the Frostburg State men's soccer team to a 2-1 road victory over Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play.
The Lions struck first in the 32
nd minute when Manny Little received a pass from Jonathan Majin and headed the ball into the top right corner of the net to give PSH a 1-0 lead.
Frostburg (7-8-1, 3-3-1) was outshot by Penn State Harrisburg (11-5, 5-2) in the first half, 8-4, but held a 5-3 advantage in second half shots.
Frostburg would score for the first time of the afternoon in the 50
th minute on an unassisted game-tying goal by Akuffo.
Akuffo would then notch the game-winner in the 81
st minute on a pass from freshman Josh McRobie that put Frostburg up 2-1.
Akuffo and senior Hendrik de Wit each had two shots for the Bobcats.
PSH had two more chances to tie the game in the 86
th minute on shots by Ethan Hoover and Manny Little that hit the post and crossbar respectively.
Senior goalie Hassan Mostafa made two saves on three shots.
Frostburg will return home to Bobcat Stadium for Senior Night on Saturday, October 22 against Marymount at 7:00 p.m.
