ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's swim team beat the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays by a narrow margin of four points, while the Frostburg State men's team fell to the Blue Jays, Monday evening.
Meet ResultsIn an impressive team effort, the Bobcat women defeated Elizabethtown 102-99, while the FSU men dropped a close contest, 111-87, to the Blue Jays.
The women swam to eight wins including a close victory in the first event of the night. The 400-yard medley relay team of freshman Emily Turner, junior Sydney Fazenbaker, freshman Maddie Weinberger and sophomore Macey Nitchie out touched the Blue Jay relay by one tenth of a second to win the race in 4:24.53.
Turner, Weinberger and Nitchie all posted three wins each on the night. Along with swimming the backstroke leg of the winning 400-medley relay, Turner also touched in first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.67) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.10).
Weinberger continued to impress, as she touched first in the 100-yard IM (1:04.49) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.59).
Nitchie also won all of her individual events, placing first in the 50-yard freestyle (25.93) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.97).
Fazenbaker also swam to a first place finish for the Bobcats in the 1650-yard freestyle (20:32.95) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:02.52).
The Bobcat men won six individual events against the Blue Jays, including three Bobcats posting two wins each.
Sophomore Daniel Ryczek won both distance freestyle events for the Bobcats. He touched in first in the 1650-yard freestyle (18:55.14) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.42).
Freshman Sidney Horton and sophomore Christian March each picked up a win in the sprint freestyle events. Horton placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (54.57) while March touched in first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.53).
Horton also won the 100-yard IM (58.44) and March placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.30).
The Bobcats will return to the pool Saturday, January 23 when they travel to Bethany (W.Va.) for a dual meet set to start at 1:00 pm.
