Marymount Outlasts #14/16 Baseball

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Frostburg State baseball team dropped its second game in as many days as Marymount (Va.) took a 3-1 decision over the Bobcats Wednesday afternoon.

Frostburg (12-2, 5-1 CAC) took an early lead with a run in the second inning off a bases-loaded walk to senior Ricky Castro to bring home senior Zach Weiss. The Saints (6-4, 2-1 CAC) answered right back, however, with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame off a groundout to second with a runner on third.

With the game tied 1-1 after three and half innings, the Saints scored the winning run in the bottom of the fourth on an error by the Bobcat pitcher to bring home B Berczek. MU led 2-1 going into the sixth inning when the Saints scored the final run of the game on an RBI-single with two outs to bring home the game's final run.

Sophomore Ryan Callahan suffered the loss on the mound despite 6.2 strong innings for the Bobcats and was plagued by errors. Callahan allowed three runs, just one earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out six. Weiss had two of the Bobcats three hits on the day and scored FSU's only run.

Frostburg State will travel to Chestertown, Md. tomorrow to face Washington College in a non-conference game at 3:30 pm.
