Bobcats Down Penn State Harrisburg, 79-66

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team shot a season-high 46 percent from the field to down Penn State Harrisburg, 79-66, Wednesday night.

The Lions jumped to an early 6-5 lead, but the Bobcats took a 15-2 run on a jumper by sophomore Kache Fields to lead by 12 points midway through the first half with 11:46 to go.

Freshman Adjowa Pinkrah hit a three-pointer with 1:01 to give FSU a 38-19 lead and junior Courtney Young added a layup two seconds before the buzzer to send the Bobcats into the locker room riding a 40-19 advantage.

Frostburg State (2-16, 1-12 CAC) opened the second half with the first two baskets to take its largest lead of the game, 44-19.

Fields hit two free throws and a jumper later in the second half to put the Bobcats up 66-45 with 6:41 to play. The Lions (4-16, 3-10 CAC) tried to rally and came within five, 71-66, with 1:32 to play, but Frostburg State finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the victory. Fields finished with 15 points and seven steals.

The Bobcats finished with 35 points and 23 steals off the Lions' 33 turnovers.

Senior Ronje James had a game-high 27 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Senior Jasmine Walker added 15 points and five rebounds.

Janel Brown and Jasmine Yanich both had 19 points for the Lions, while Kiara Carter and Kaitlyn Carmo both added 10.

The Bobcats visit St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday to take on the Seahawks at 2:00 p.m.
