FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State swimming teams honored their seniors Kaitlyn Donch, Jaclyn Franzak, Kathryn Hoad, Elizabeth Jarrell and Sara King on their Senior Night ceremony before beginning Friday evening's meet. The Bobcat women later slipped past the Blue Jays 135-124.
Photo GalleryResultsFreshman Macey Nitchie earned the first win of seven individual first-place finishes for the Bobcat women. In the 200-meter freestyle, Nitchie prevailed with a time of 2:14.02. She was also untouchable in earning her second win of the evening, taking the 50-meter freestyle in 28.38. In the 100-meter freestyle, her domination continued as she yielded a seven second win over a runner-up Elizabethtown swimmer, finishing in 1:01.80.
A trio of seniors, Donch, Jarrell, and Franzak joined junior Maci Quintanill to overtake Elizabethtown in the 200-meter medley relay with a combined time of 2:15.13.
Donch also stole two top finishes from the Blue Jays in the 50-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter IM with times of 37.43 and 2:43.82, respectively. She then posted a runner-up finish in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:20.59).
The seniors continued to push the women's lead as Franzak won two more events. She took the 100-meter butterfly in 1:14.60. Then in the 50-meter butterfly, Franzak took first (32.05) with King following closely behind for second (32.75).
To wrap up the seniors' final home meet, Jarrell, King, Nitchie and junior Chrissy Alessandrini propelled past Elizabethtown in the 200-meter freestyle relay (2:00.69).
Frostburg State men's and women's swimming teams will compete at Mary Washington on January 31 at 1 pm.
