Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

James Reaches 1,000 Points In Loss To #20 Salisbury

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State women's basketball guard Ronje James made history as she reached the 1,000-point milestone Saturday against No. 20 Salisbury, but the Bobcats ultimately fell to the Seagulls, 63-55 at Bobcat Arena.

James hit a jumper for her 1,000th point to give Frostburg State a 17-16 lead with 8:12 left in the first half.

With six ties and five lead changes in the opening  20 minutes, the Bobcats were never down more than three points and looked to take a neutral 26-26 score into halftime until a last-second jumper by Salisbury's Paige Bryce put the Seagulls up, 28-26, at the intermission.

Salisbury found its feet in the second half and inched its way to a handful of 12-point leads, including a 58-46 advantage with 2:30 to play. The Bobcats cut it to four with under a minute to go, but Salisbury pushed its lead back to eight at the final horn with several late free throws.

The Seagulls' key points came off turnovers and held the Bobcats to a 28-12 advantage in that category.

James became the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone and totaled 24 points and four rebounds. Teammate Jasmine Walker had a double-double day with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Adjowah Pinkrah chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.

Sarah Seipp and Julia McLaughlin each had 13 points for the Seagulls.

The Bobcats travel to Southern Virginia next Wednesday to take on the Knights at 5:30 p.m.
