No. 12 Spartans Surpass Bobcats

FROSTBURG, Md. – Junior Malory Brunett scored twice for Frostburg State but 12th-ranked York (Pa.) earned an 18-3 victory over the Bobcats, Wednesday.

York (10-3, 4-1 CAC) scored the game's first four goals and opened an 8-2 lead at intermission. Brunett (16:34) and freshman Megan Hart (6:56) each scored in the first half for the Bobcats (2-11, 0-5 CAC).

Brunett scored to open second half action to pull Frostburg within 8-3 at 25:53. The Spartans then rattled off 10-straight to cap the afternoon.

Besides her two goals, Brunett added three ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover. Freshman Emani Byrd caused three turnovers and scooped up two ground balls. Freshman Dylan Teitalbaum stopped six shots while suffering the loss.

Three different Spartans scored three goals each to power the attack. Junior Sarah Castle tacked on three goals and handed out an assist while seniors Jocelyn Hudson and Kerri Nicolich completed hat tricks. York outshot Frostburg 33-16.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday as they travel to Wesley at noon.
