The Bobcats (24-11) received a strong pitching performance from senior Austin Poretz in game one, but were unable to push any runs across the plate against the Pioneers (23-11).

Neither team scored through three innings, but Marietta was able to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Packanik scored the game's first run on a wild pitch after he tripled with one out, and Tim McCoy doubled the Pioneers' advantage with a solo home run later in the inning.

Frostburg was unable to take advantage of its opportunities as it left nine runners on base in the game. Marietta tacked on a single run in the seventh to bring the final score to 3-0.

Poretz fell to 6-2 on the season despite allowing just two runs and striking out seven in six innings of work.  Kordell Antill improved to 1-1 on the season for the Pioneers behind three scoreless innings pitched.

Game two was a different story for FSU, as it was able to score seven unanswered runs in the first four innings.

The Bobcats grabbed the lead early with four runs in the first. Junior Ricky Brady delivered the big hit of the inning with a two-run double down the right field line. Senior Dylan Shupe picked up two RBI singles as Frostburg scored two more in the second and one in the fourth to make the score 7-0.

That was more than enough offense for Bobcat starting pitcher, senior Kenny Georgius. Georgius (6-1) continued his dominant season by throwing eight strong innings of one-run ball. He allowed just six hits, struck out seven, and didn't allow a run until the eighth inning.

After the early innings, the game was never in doubt as FSU went on to win 7-1.  Mike Finlan (2-3) picked up the loss for the Pioneers after surrendering four runs in just one-third of an inning.

Offensively on the day the Bobcats were led by junior Zach Weiss who went a combined 4-for-9 with two runs and a double. Junior Ricky Castro went 3-for-8 with a run scored and a double, while Brady also went 3-for-8 with two RBIs. Shupe picked up two hits on the day and tied Brady for the team lead with two RBIs.

Frostburg returns to action on Friday when it hosts La Roche at 4:00 pm for senior day at Bob Wells Field.
