Women’s Lacrosse Falls In Season Opener

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State suffered a 16-10 season opening loss to Allegheny in non-conference women's lacrosse action, Saturday.

A 7-0 run that covered both halves was all that the Gators (1-0) needed. With the score tied at 6-6, the game's fourth tie, Allegheny found the net four times over the final 1:58 of the first half for a 10-6 lead at intermission.

The visitors opened second-half play with three-straight goals as their lead swelled to 13-6. Bobcat freshman Molly Hart scored twice in the second half to help Frostburg stay in the contest.

Despite Allegheny's run, the game remained close for much of the first half as the teams battled to four ties in the first 27 minutes of play.

FSU put together three-consecutive goals that spanned just over 11 minutes in the first half as the Bobcats led 4-2 with 11:57 showing. Juniors Malory Brunett, Ellie Garner and Emily Walker each scored during the run.

Allegheny answered by taking a 6-4 lead before its 7-0 run sealed the win.

Garner led the Bobcats with three goals on four shots. Molly Hart added two goals, while Brunett and senior Megan White each added a goal and assist. Freshman Dylan Teitalbaum stopped four shots in the loss.

Kelly Dickson scored five goals and handed out one assist to lead the Gators offensively. Makenzie Bell finished with two goals and five assists.

FSU returns to action this Tuesday when it hosts Catholic at 6:00 pm.
