FROSTBURG, Md. – No. 12 York (Pa.) closed out the first half on a 12-3 run and carried that momentum throughout the duration of the second half as they overpowered the Frostburg State women's basketball team, 89-62, Wednesday evening.

The Bobcats (8-16, 3-12 CAC) hung tough with the 12
th ranked Spartans (22-2, 14-2 CAC) as the game saw five ties and 10 lead changes in the first half.
At 8:26 the hosts took a one-point lead, 23-22, and with the help of a foul shot from junior Jasmine Walker and five points from classmate Simone Wise, the Bobcats grabbed a six-point advantage, 28-22.
Frostburg held the largest lead of the first half, creating a nine-point deficit, 36-27, with four minutes to play in the first.
Four-straight Spartan buckets knotted the game for the fifth time at 1:27 and senior Brittany Hicks poured in a lay-up in the final seconds to grab the halftime lead, 39-38.
The Bobcats shot a solid 41.7 percent (15-of-36) from the field in the first frame, paced by junior Ronje' James who used her slashing abilities to score 11 first-half points.
Defensively the Bobcats held a slim rebounding advantage (26-25); aided by sophomore Deara Parker who seized nine rebounds in the first half.
At 18:27, the game saw its sixth tie at 41. The Spartans produced a 15-0 run ending at 12:36 for a 56-41 lead that sealed the fate of the Bobcats.
FSU notched only one three-pointer on the game, donated by Wise, as the Bobcats struggled to score in the second half in a 7-for-32 (21.9%) shooting effort. YCP poured in seven three-pointers on the night, including three from both Jess Selby and Sam Hruz.
Senior guard Elaina Hummel posted a team-high 15 points, 13 coming from the second half while Simone Wise finalized her night with 13 points.
The forward duo of Parker and Walker accounted for 22 of the team's 42 rebounds. Parker collected 12 rebounds and six points while Walker pulled down 10 rebounds and donated nine points and three blocks.
Hicks notched 24 points and 13 rebounds while Hruz scored 19 points. Senior Kristen Haley posted a game-high 15 rebounds while contributing eight points and five blocks.
The Bobcats return to action this Saturday (Feb. 22) for their final home game of the season, hosting Salisbury at 1:00 pm.
