Bobcats Post Second-Straight Come-From-Behind Victory

FROSTBURG, Md. – Junior Nick Smoot scored 22 and freshman Tyler Michael added 20 as Frostburg State rallied for its second-straight win with an 85-70 victory over Waynesburg, Tuesday night.
 
Waynesburg (1-4) knocked down a pair of three-pointers to tie the game at 35-35 at intermission. It carried that momentum into the second stanza by opening up a 10-point cushion, 51-41, just 4:22 into action.

Frostburg (2-2) slowly chipped away at the deficit and cut it to 59-56 with 9:09 to play. After the Yellow Jackets pushed it back to seven, 63-56, the Bobcats closed out the game on a 29-7 run over the final 7:44 for the win.
 
Junior Shawn Henson hit his only three-pointer of the evening and it handed Frostburg a 65-63 lead at 4:48. Following Henson's three, FSU collected a 9-0 spurt that pushed the lead to 11, 74-63 with just 2:48 showing. Smoot hit a three-pointer with six seconds left that increased FSU's lead to 85-70 at the final horn.
 
Frostburg shot 45.5 percent (15-of-33) in the second half, including 6-of-10 (60%) from beyond the arc. For the game, the Bobcats shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) and limited Waynesburg to 34.3 percent (24-of-70).
 
Smoot's 22 led all players and he finished with four 3-pointers and three assists. Michael added three 3-pointers and both players shot 50 percent from the field. Senior Jabari Kamau scored 10 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, while senior Tyler Campbell led both squads with 12 rebounds.
 
Waynesburg finished with five players in double figures as Thomas Ellis and Byrum Louco each led the way with 13.
 
Frostburg travels to Randolph-Macon this Sunday at 2:00 pm.
