Bobcats Tag Presidents for an 11-7 Victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Frostburg State University women’s lacrosse team used a five-goal run to roll past Washington & Jefferson for a 11-7 victory, Wednesday evening.

Both teams battled to gain a first half lead until the clock showed four minutes of play left in the first frame with the score tied at 3-3. The Bobcats (5-4) used two late first half goals and opened the second frame with three straight scores to grab the advantage that carried through the second half.

Senior Taylor Cassatt scored back-to-back goals early in the first and helped the five-goal run by netting the last goal of the first half and the first score of the second half.

After assisting Cassatt for two goals, senior Chelsea Feeney scored one of her own less than a minute later aided by junior Megan White for a 7-3 Bobcat lead.

Senior Katelyn Kesecker rounded out the scoring spurt at 25:56 as she slid one past the Presidents’ keeper.

W&J struck back with two back-to-back goals but was countered with two straight scores from Megan White to maintain a five goal lead, 10-5 with 14:28 showing.

Sophomore Jessica Jones scored the last goal for the Bobcats at 12:27. The President’s ran out of time but managed to muster two late goals at the eight-minute mark as the score was finalized 11-7.

Cassatt led the Bobcats with four goals, five draw controls and two ground balls. White and Kesecker finished with two while Feeney contributed one goal, two assists, two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Senior Naomi Swann snagged her 11th victory by tallying eight saves.

The Bobcats get back into Capital Athletic Conference action as they host Marymount (Va.) on Saturday, April 6, at 7:00 pm.
