White Nets Game Winner In Victory Over Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Junior Megan White scored three times, but her final goal was the best of group. Following a foul on Allegheny with 18 seconds left in the first overtime frame, White scored a free position goal with 12 seconds left that handed Frostburg State a slim 13-12 win over the Gators, Saturday.

The Bobcats have now won back-to-back games and sit at 2-1 overall on the season. FSU was outshot 32-19 by Allegheny (3-1), but the visitors netted 13 goals on their 19 shots.

Frostburg led by two, 11-9, with just under 10 minutes to play in the second half, but the Gators battled back to tie the game at 11-11 with 6:32 left. Four minutes later, the hosts grabbed a 12-11 lead when Kelsey Rodgers scored with just 2:34 left in the second half.

Sophomore Ellie Garner scored with seven seconds left in the second stanza to knot the game at 12 goals apiece and send the contest into a pair of extra frames.

Junior Malory Brunett led FSU with four goals and eight draw controls. She scored three in the opening half as the Bobcats surged out to a 7-5 lead at the half. Senior Chelsea Feeney scored twice and handed out three assists. Her second goal gave Frostburg a 7-4 lead late in the second half. White finished with three goals and one assist.

Senior Naomi Swann earned the win in goal, while stopping six shots.

Kelly Dickson of Allegheny scored five goals to lead all players. McKenzie Bell totaled five points behind three goals and two assists.

Frostburg returns to action this Tuesday when it hosts Shenandoah at 4:00 pm.
