Women’s Lacrosse Shuts Out Southern Virginia

FROSTBURG, Md.  - The Frostburg State women’s lacrosse team cruised to an 17-0 victory over Southern Virginia on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was the first time FSU shut out an opponent since a 20-0 road win over Waynesburg on Apr. 10, 2010.

In the process, the Bobcats improved to a 4-4 record, leading the Knights in shots (27-3) and draw controls (19-0). FSU built a 10-0 lead at halftime and tacked on seven more goals in the final 30 minutes to earn the 17-0 victory.

Senior Megan White provided the offensive punch with three first-half goals, while sophomore Emily Walker added two goals for FSU, which saw 12 different players score on the day.

In the second half, sophomore Natalie Hughes earned her first career goal and followed it with two more to tie Megan White for a game-high three goals each.

Classmate Jessica Norris also recorded her first career goal as she opened up the half with a score for the Bobcats.

FSU fully rounded out a team-focused afternoon, as the Bobcats dished 11 assists, their highest of the season. Senior Chelsea Feeney added four assists, which currently ranks her fourth in the Capital Athletic Conference with 15.

Senior Naomi Swann earned her fourth win of the year with just two saves.

FSU returns to action Wednesday, Apr. 3 as they travel to face Washington & Jefferson for a 7:00 pm contest.
