Men's Soccer Shutout 2-0 by Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net on Saturday as it fell to Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington, 2-0.

The Bobcats (11-4, 4-3 CAC) had scored 10 goals in their previous two games, but were unable to find their way past the Eagles (11-6, 5-3 CAC).

UMW held the halftime lead in shots at 6-3 and corners at 6-0, but neither team was able to get on the board in the first half.

Freshman Riley Fisher finally opened the scoring at 54:10 off of an assist from fellow freshman Jacob Burke, to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The game remained in reach for the Bobcats until Fisher added his second tally of the match in the 84th minute to give Mary Washington a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

The Eagles outshot Frostburg 12-8 for the match, and held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Senior Pablo Torrano and sophomore Kyle Walczak led the Bobcats with two shots apiece.  

Freshman Hassan Mostafa made two saves in the losing effort for FSU, while freshman Ian Waltz made three saves for UMW.

The Bobcats will close out the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to York (Pa.) for a 4:00 pm CAC match.
