FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women’s lacrosse team held a one-goal lead midway through the first half, but St. Mary’s proved to be too much in earning a 19-10 victory, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (4-11, 2-6) held a pair of one goal leads midway through the first half, including a 4-3 edge at 14:46, but the Seahawks (8-7, 4-3) used a 5-0 outburst to grab an 8-4 lead with 29 seconds left to play in the opening half.
Bobcat sophomore Malory Brunett capped the first period and pulled the Bobcats within 8-5 with her third goal of the half with 11 seconds showing.
Brunett and junior Taylor Cassatt each found the net inside the first five minutes of the second half as Frostburg tried to recapture the momentum it had in the first.
However, St. Mary’s took control of the game behind its second 5-0 run of the game as it extended its lead to 14-7. The Seahawk spurt covered roughly seven minutes and ended at 16:06.
Back-to-back FSU goals drew the hosts to within five, 14-9, but St. Mary’s closed out the game with a 5-1 scoring advantage.
The Seahawks, who outscored the hosts 11-5 in the second half, held a 33-25 lead in shots.
Brunett led the Bobcats in scoring with four goals and one assist. Her second goal of the first half handed the Bobcats a 4-3 lead at 14:46.
Cassat finished with three goals while Kesecker scored two and had one assist. Kesecker’s first goal on the contest gave FSU a 3-2 lead with 16:21 left in the opening half.
Emily Shafer scored five goals to lead the Seahawks while Lauriann Parker scored four times and handed out three assists.
Frostburg State jumps out of CAC action this Wednesday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson at 7:00 pm for Senior Night.
