FROSTBURG, Md. – Zach O’Dell struck out seven batters in six innings pitched and Garrett Price hit a two-run homerun over the left field fence to help the Frostburg State baseball team earn a 2-1 victory over Stevenson, in the second game of the doubleheader. Stevenson took the first game 8-4.

O’Dell scattered five hits and didn’t walk a batter, to lower his ERA to 4.63 and earned his fourth win. AJ Rosenthal pitched a scoreless seventh to earn his seventh save of the season. Price went 2-for-3 in game two, and Torian Cyrus and Adam Summerfelt both collected hits for the Bobcats.
In the opening game, Stevenson scored in five of the first six innings to build an 8-3 lead. Stevenson had three hits and pushed across two runs in the first to go ahead early. Frostburg responded in the bottom of the inning as Doug Anuszewski knocked in Cyrus with a single.
Stevenson added a run in the second and Scott Merkel hit a two-run double in the third to give the Mustangs a 4-1 advantage.
Pat Sapp singled with one out in the third and Adam Summerfelt smoked a ball over the left field fence to make the score 4-3. However, Stevenson tacked on two more runs in the fourth and the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Summerfelt added another RBI in the Bobcat’s last at-bat on a sacrifice fly to right.
Drew Liebert threw the complete game for the Mustangs to earn the victory, while Doug Politz took the loss after giving up four runs in two plus innings pitched.
Andrew Rodgers threw a scoreless seventh for FSU.
The Bobcat lineup was paced by Summerfelt, who was 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Anuszewski hit safely twice.
FSU finishes the series with Stevenson on Tuesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Bob Wells Field.
