GREENSBORO, N.C. – Frostburg State senior Tico Mendoza threw seven strong innings, giving up only two earned runs, both of which came in his final inning of work, to earn his first victory of the season and help the Bobcats to a 6-3 win over Guilford, Wednesday.

AJ Rosenthal relieved Mendoza and tossed the eighth and ninth innings for his third consecutive save and sixth of the season.
Frostburg scored a run in the first inning, after leadoff man Torian Cyrus hit a double to center and was driven in by Adam Summerfelt who singled up the middle. FSU added to their lead in the fourth on a two-run homerun by Tyler Hawthorne. Doug Anuszewski led off the inning with a single and scored on the Hawthorne homer.
John Barrett collected his third hit of the day on a two-run single in the top ninth to provide FSU with a little more breathing room.
Cyrus, Pat Sapp, and Anuszewski all had two hits to lead the Bobcat lineup. It was Barrett’s third consecutive multi-hit game and Summerfelt extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
The Bobcats (11-6, 3-3) stay in Greensboro tomorrow when they face Greensboro College at 3:00 p.m.
