HARRISBURG, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures, including three starters as the Frostburg State women’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid with an 83-71 win over Penn State Harrisburg, Tuesday night.

FSU rebounded from a 34-28 halftime deficit and improved to 3-5 on the season. The Bobcats ended a four-game skid with their largest margin of victory this season (12 pts.), while the defeat dropped the Lions to 5-2 overall and snapped a four-game winning streak. The two schools will meet twice a year starting in 2013-14 as Harrisburg becomes a member of the Capital Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Ronje’ James powered the Bobcats behind a career-high 28 points on 9-of-16 (56.2%) shooting. She also grabbed eight rebounds, handed out three assists and had three steals.
James scored 20 of 28 points in the second half while FSU shot 54.3 percent (19-of-35) from the field. The Bobcats also held a 32-8 edge in bench points, including a 24-2 lead in the decisive second half.
The Lions opened the second with the first basket at 19:43, but FSU collected a 15-6 scoring spurt for a one-point lead, 43-42. The scoring continued for the Bobcats as they slowly pushed their lead to 10 points, 62-52 at 8:45 behind a pair of free throws from junior Elaina Hummel. James hit back-to-back free throws with just 2:02 remaining on the clock as Frostburg grabbed its largest lead of the game, 76-59.
Hummel led three starters in double figures with 21 points, including team highs in three-pointers (3) and steals (4). Senior Steph Straka added 20 points while senior Brynn Arnone chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
PSH had three starters in double figures, led by 22 points from Mercedes Copeland. Amanda Moyer added 18 points and 14 rebounds, but the hosts received little help from their bench as the starters combined to score 63 of the team’s 71 points.
FSU travels to Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday for a non-conference game at 2:00 pm.
