The first half featured three lead changes, but the visiting Bobcats emerged with an 8-7 halftime lead. However, it was not easy as Shepherd erased an early Bobcat lead with a 5-1 run for a 7-4 edge with 11:37 to play in the opening half. Sophomore Taylor Cassatt (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored a pair of goals early in the first half that helped propel the Bobcats to an early 3-2 lead.

After the Rams took the lead, freshman Malory Brunett (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) sparked a Frostburg scoring run that covered the final 8:15 of the opening half. She found the net at 8:15 and again at 2:48 as the Bobcats trailed by just one 7-6.

Cassatt completed her first-half hat trick when she scored with just 46 seconds left until halftime that knotted the game at 7-7. Sophomore Myra Derbyshire (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) handed FSU the lead at the break after scoring with just 23 seconds left.

Shepherd found the net in pairs in the second stanza and outscored the Bobcats 9-5 on its way to the comeback win.

The Rams opened the second with back-to-back goals over a 25-second span that handed them the lead, 9-8. FSU recaptured the lead a little over two minutes later when sophomore Rachel Dwyer (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) scored two goals for a 10-9 lead at 20:46.

The lead would not last long as Shepherd scored a minute later to tie the contest and then took the lead, 11-10 at 18:21. Cassatt scored on a free position just before the midway point of the second half that tied the game at 11-11, but the Rams scored their third set of goals of the half to take the lead for good, 13-11.

Cassatt and junior Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriots Ridge) each scored inside the final 10 minutes of play and were able to keep the Bobcat deficit within one goal, until Shepherd closed out the scoring with its final pair of goals in the closing minutes for the win.

Cassatt and Kapustin accounted for 10 points on the afternoon. Cassatt led all players with five goals while Kapustin scored twice and handed out three assists. Dwyer finished with a career-high three scores. Freshman keeper Karoline Miller (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) made 14 saves.

Six players scored for Shepherd, led by Shannon Carta's four goals. Christina Ferrara registered seven points with five assists and two goals.

The Rams nearly doubled the Bobcats in shots (40-23) and held a slim lead in ground balls (31-28). FSU made 14 saves and was 4-of-6 on free-position shots.

The Bobcats travel to Mary Washington on Sunday for a Capital Athletic Conference Tournament game at 2:00 pm.
