FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The offense came alive in the second day of the Methodist Diamond Tournament as the Frostburg State baseball team took two from Roanoke, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats took the first game 9-1 and shut the Maroons out 7-0 in the second.

Frostburg State (2-1) didn't waste any time as freshman
Matt Donaldson (Garrett, Pa./Meyersdale) scored in the first inning, stealing home in a first-and-third double steal attempt to put the Bobcats up 1-0.
Senior
Corey Carr (McHenry, Md./Northern Garrett) added to the lead in top of the fourth with an RBI double to left center to bring home classmate
Matt Greene (Westminster, Md./South Carroll). Carr hit his second double of the game in the top of the sixth and scored on a throwing error by the Maroons' shortstop that allowed junior
Adam Summerfelt (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) to reach base safely.
The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth. RC answered, however, in the bottom of the inning. The Maroons (2-4) scored on an untimely Bobcat error, though senior pitcher Dave Lanier (Laurel, Md./Atholton) was able to get the final out of the inning to hold RC to just one run and keep a 3-1 lead.
FSU tacked on two more runs in the eighth on a two-run single off the bat of freshman
Tyler Hawthorne (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. Dupont). The Bobcats added their final four runs of the game in the ninth to solidify their 9-1 win. Junior

Daniel Heatwole (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby). Summerfelt and senior
Britton Quayle (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) walked back-to-back with the bases loaded to plate the final to runs of the game.
Senior
Matt Ridenour (Hagerstown, North Hagerstown) earned the win on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings, striking out four and scattering five hits. Carr led the offense going 3-for-5 in the game with an RBI and two runs scored.
In the final game of the day, the Bobcats took advantage of all the errors by the Maroons and handed them a 7-0 loss. Carr's bat stayed hot going into the game hitting a home run into left center to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead after two innings. In the bottom of the third, Greene singled to centerfield to bring home Donaldson and Summerfelt and eventually came around to score on an RBI-single from Carr.
Senior righthander
Greg Ross (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) settled down after a rocky second inning that included two wild pitches. With runners on second and third, the Maroons were threatening, but Ross was able to strike out the side and keep RC off the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the seventh, Greene reached on a fielding error by the shortstop that allowed Donaldson to score and give the Bobcats the 5-0 advantage. FSU added its final two runs of the game in the eighth inning. Senior
Ben Oberman (Loganville, Ga./Loganville) hit a sac fly to center field to score junior
Doug Anuszewski (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty). Sophomore
Pat Sapp (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) singled to shortstop to score Carr for the final run of the game.
Senior
Kevin Williford (Severn, Md./Old Mill) came out for the final inning of the game, sitting down the Maroons in order to close out the 7-0 victory. Ross started the game on the mound, tossing 8.0 innings and striking out a season-high 10 batters. Ross allowed only two hits and two walks on the day. Michael Haslam suffered the loss for Roanoke going 6.0 innings, giving up seven hits and four runs, two earned.
Carr finished the day going 5-for-8 with three RBI and four runs scored.
The Bobcats cap off the Methodist Diamond Tournament tomorrow taking on the host Methodist with the first pitch scheduled at 4:00 pm.
