Coaching the Cats
The Bobcats are led by Tom Rogish in his third season as head coach in the program’s 49-year history. Last season, Rogish guided FSU to a 1-9 overall record against arguably the nation's toughest schedule. The Bobcats led the ACFC in interceptions (12) and turnover margin (+2) and finished second in red zone offense (81.8), pass offense (182.7) and pass efficiency (138.1).

Rogish brought over 30 years of coaching experience to Frostburg State including 29 years in the collegiate ranks. He spent the last 22 years at the Division II level at perennial powers Indiana (Pa.) and Shepherd (W.Va.).

Prior to his arrival in Frostburg, Rogish spent two years on the defensive staff at Shepherd College. The Rams made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2006 and 2007 including a run to the NCAA Division II Northeast Region championship this past fall.

New Additions
Frostburg State University head football coach Tom Rogish welcomes four new additions to the coaching staff for the fall 2010 season. Gabe Luvara joined the staff last April and will serve as the program's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Aaron Hirtzel, Andrew Rebello and Jamie Schumacher have joined the Bobcat staff as graduate assistants late in the summer prior to the start of preseason camp.

Luvara arrived at FSU from Ithaca College where her served as the offensive coordinator for the last three years. He helped the Bombers to a pair of NCAA Playoff appearances and a 24-8 overall record. Joining the Bobcat coaching staff reunites Luvara and coach Rogish, who were both previous members of the Indiana (Pa.) football program. Luvara was a four-year player and All-PSAC selection at IUP while Rogish served as the team's associate head coach (1994-2005).

Hirtzel will work with the FSU defensive line after serving as an assistant coach at Juniata College last year, also helping with the defensive line. The Eagle defense created 15 turnovers and 10 sacks on the season. Prior to JC, Hirtzel played four years on the offensive line for Grinnell College and earned Honorable Mention All-Midwest Conference honors as a senior in 2008. He graduated from Grinnell in May 2009 with a 3.0 GPA in economics.

Rebello, who will work with the Bobcat defensive backs, comes to FSU after a four-year playing career for the Merrimack College football team. A three-year letter winner, Rebello helped the Warriors to a pair of Northeast-10 Conference Championships (2006 & 2009) and a total of 25 wins over his four years. He finished third on the team with 66 tackles and second with three interceptions as a senior in 2009, while helping MC to a 7-3 record. He was a Dean’s List and Commissioner’s list student and graduated this past May with a degree in psychology and a 3.2 GPA.

Schumacher will direct the running backs in his first year with the Frostburg football program after coaching the same position at Thiel College in 2009-10. While with the Tomcats, he assisted with the weekly game plans, the special teams units and the strength and conditioning plans for the team. Thiel posted three wins on the season and the team rushed for a season-high 172 yards in a 20-10 win over Albion.

Schumacher played four years of college football at Marietta from 2005-08 prior to his stop at Thiel. He was a three-year letter winner at linebacker, garnering All-Academic Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Honorable Mention honors in 2008 and Scout Special Teams Player of the Year honors in 2005. Marietta posted 16 wins during his four years.

Welcome Back
The Bobcats welcome back junior quarterback Josh Volpe (Germantown, Md./Northwest) who threw for 1,358 yards, eight touchdowns and set a school record with a 59.4 season completion percentage last season. This is the first season in the last three that FSU will not break from its primary starting quarterback from the previous season.

Volpe has thrown for 189 yards and one touchdown with a 52.5 completition rate in his first two starts this season. Volpe ran in a touchdown in an effort that fell just short, losing to Geneva 32-27 in the season opener on Sept. 4.

Leading the ACFC...
In the second week of collegiate football action, six Bobcats pace the ACFC lin several categories. Sophomore Josh Jackson (Wakersville, Md./Frederick) leads kick returners with 119 yards on five attempts. On the defensive side of the ball, senior Travis Blair (Upper Marlboro, Md./Oxon Hill) leads the league in tackles with 20.

Senior Terryl Monroe (Temple Hills, Md./Damatha) is fourth in tackles with 14 and is tied at the top of the ACFC leaderboard with one interception that he ran back for 62 yards. Against Virginia
The Bobcats have proven to be successful against schools from the Old Dominion state. FSU posts a 40-32-1 overall record and is 7-6 in the last 10 seasons. Frostburg State picked up its last win against a Virginia school last season defeating Apprentice 35-30 in Newport News, Va on Nov. 7.

- Snap a three-game losing streak dating back to a final game loss to Salisbury last season
- Give FSU 1-0 series lead over CNU
- Extend Frostburg State's lead over schools from Virginia to 41-32-1
- Hand CNU a three-game losing streak to open its season. The last time CNU opened 0-3 was in 2001, its first season of collegiate football

A Loss for Frostburg State Would ...
- Drop FSU to 225-241-8
- Snap a two-game losing skid for CNU
- Give CNU a 6-5 lead in games against Maryland schools

The Bobcats Last Week
The No. 3 ranked Wesley College Wolverines racked up 482 yards in offense and scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first three quarters en route to a 47-0 Atlantic Central Football Conference victory over Frostburg State, Saturday afternoon.

WC (2-0) quarterback Justin Sottilare threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns and tailback Brandon Wright added 148 yards and two scores on 12 carries to power Wesley to their 18th-straigt conference victory.

FSU senior tailback Anton Wade (Baltimore, Md./Patterson) finished the day with 69 yards on 16 carries while Bobcat junior Josh Volpe (Germantown, Md./Northwest) threw for 42 yards on eight completions. Freshman Zach Zile (Woodbine, Md./Century) led all Bobcat players with 30 yards on three receptions.

FSU sophomore Josh Jackson (Walkersville, Md. / Frederick) returned the opening kickoff 79 yards to the Wesley six yardline to put the Bobcats in business early on. Senior Anthony King (Germantown, Md./Northwest) carried the ball to the Wolverine three, but two incompletions stalled the offense and the ensuing field goal attempt was blocked by Wesley. However, the Bobcats Rashad James (Washington, Md./Anacostia) intercepted Sottilare three plays later at the FSU 39 to give the hosts the ball inside Wesley territory. FSU picked up nine yards on first and second, but on a 3-1 Volpe was stopped for no gain and the Bobcats were forced to punt.

The Wesley offense got going on the ensuing drive as Wright broke off a 74-yard touchdown run on the first play for a 7-0 lead. Two drives later, Wesley recovered a blocked punt at the Bobcat 25 and had to settle for a Dan Tryon 31-yard field goal.

Sottilare connected with Sean McAndrew for a 14-yard touchdown late in the first as Wesley began to slowly add points to the scoreboard. Sottilare tossed two more touchdowns late in the second, both to Ellis Krout (38 and 10 yards), as the Wolverines led 30-0 at halftime.

A 44-yard kickoff return put WC in Frostburg State territory to begin the third quarter and Wright scored his second touchown from 12 yards out just over two min-ute into the second half for a 37-0 lead.

Gene Knight found the endzone from 36 yards out midway through the third quarter for Wesley's final touchdown and Tryon kicked a 32-yard field goal in the fourth for the 47-0 win.

Junior Travis Blair (Upper Marlboro, Md./Oxon Hill) made a game-high 7.5 tackles, classmate Marcus Wilson (Woodstock, Md./Randallstown) made 6.5 stops with 1.0 tackle for loss and junior Jim Lohr (Bowie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) broke up three passes.
