With his RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, Greene collected his 67th hit of the season to take over as the single-season leader passing the previous held mark of 66. Senior Andrew Derr (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) walked to lead off the third and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Classmate Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) bunted his way on to put runners on the corners for junior Rich Schuler (Wilmington, Del./Caravel Academy (Cecil)). Schuler singled to center field to bring home Derr. Greene followed suit with a single to center to drive home Kroboth and tie the game at two.

Frostburg State took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth. Schuler led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a groundout from senior Matt Ridenour (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown (Sheperd)). With a runner in scoring position, senior Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) singled to left field to score Schuler and give the Bobcats the 3-2 lead.

FSU added two insurance runs in the seventh and eighth to secure the win. Greene homered down the left field line for his 68th hit of the season and 11th homerun to give FSU the 4-2 lead. Sophomore Doug Anuszewski (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) doubled to start the eighth inning and was moved to third on classmate Shane Boyd's (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) sac bunt. Derr laid down a squeeze bunt to score Anuszewski and give FSU the 5-2 lead.
