READING, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team fell to Alvernia University by a score of 21-12 in the first round of the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Tournament, Wednesday afternoon.

Alvernia scored four-consecutive goals to give it a three-point lead over the next three minutes 4-1, aided by three goals from Alyssa Verillo. The two teams traded goals until the 13:05 mark when AU went on a six-goal scoring run that ended with 7:19 remaining in the half to expand its lead to nine goals, 13-4.
The Bobcats netted three-consecutive goals in the remainder of the first half to give the score 13-7 going into the break.
The teams continued to trade points in the first part of the second half each team scoring four goals to bring the score to 17-11. At 8:22, the Crusaders scored its first of four-straight goals to give them a ten-point advantage over the Bobcats, 21-11, with 1:20 left in regulation. Megan Dent-Carman (LaVale, Md./Mercersburg Academy) with 20 seconds remaining to give the end score 21-12.

Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriots Ridge) scored three goals while McIntire, Dent-Carman and senior
Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) each netted two. Leading scoring for AU was Verillo with six goals followed by Tonya Rutt and Felicia Sippel with four.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Butts (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) stopped 14 shots in the loss while Crusader goalie Victoria Kearn posted five saves, splitting time with Jenn Czarnecki who had two.
FSU wraps up its season with a 9-8 overall record.
