Women's Lacrosse Drops Game Against York College 15-6

YORK, Pa. – Leah Schultz netted a game-high five goals as the York College women's lacrosse team defeated Frostburg State, 15-6, Wednesday afternoon.

FSU (6-5) jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage less than two minutes into the game after senior Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) scored off an assist from senior Katie Dannemann (Herndon, Va./Paul VI).

YCP (8-5) took control of the remainder of the first half scoring 12 consecutive goals over the remaining 20 minutes to give the Spartans a 12-1 lead going into the break. Leah Schultz had four goals in the first half while Kimberly Wayson and Meg Foy each posted two goals.

In the second half, York netted three-straight goals in the first six minutes of play to give it a 15-1 advantage over the Bobcats, with goals from Schultz (28:40), Wayson (27:16) and Molly Kerrigan (24:29).

At 18:01, sophomore Joanna McIntire (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored her 26th goal of the season off an assist from freshman Taylor Cassatt (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), 15-2 and just over two minutes later Cassatt netted her first goal of the game to bring the score to 15-3.

At 13:13, Cassatt netted her second goal while junior Megan Dent-Carman (LaVale, Md./Mercersburg Academy) scored a goal off a free position shot at the 4:20 mark to bring the score within ten, 15-5.

Freshman Chelsea Feeney (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored a goal with only 44 seconds left in play to give the end score 16-5.

FSU led in shots (25-23) and draw controls (13-10) while YCP held the advantage in ground balls (29-27).

Sophomore goalie Tori Butts (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) stopped five shots in the loss for Frostburg State while Spartan goalkeepers Kelsey Evans and Tina Nicklas split time in goal posting six and eight saves, respectively.

FSU returns to action at Waynesburg on April 10 at 1:00 pm.
